On December 12, 2024, the International Cooperation and Exchange Center of Shangqiu University officially launched a week-long overseas study language training program, designed to provide systematic language proficiency courses for students preparing to study abroad. The establishment of this program is one of the university’s key initiatives in actively responding to the national policy of opening up education and fostering the development of internationally competitive talent.
During the opening ceremony, the director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Center emphasized the importance of language proficiency for students adapting to overseas study and life, encouraging participants to cherish this valuable learning opportunity and strive to improve their foreign language skills. He stated, “In the context of globalization, mastering a foreign language is not only a basic requirement for studying abroad but also a critical skill for future career development.”
This language training program features a professional teaching team with extensive experience, who will tailor individualized teaching plans based on students’ actual proficiency levels and needs. The curriculum covers the four foundational skills—listening, speaking, reading, and writing—while also focusing on cultivating students’ cross-cultural communication abilities and academic English application skills. Additionally, the program will simulate real overseas classroom environments to help students acclimate in advance to foreign teaching styles and academic atmospheres.
Shangqiu University has long been committed to providing students with high-quality international educational resources. Beyond the language training program, the university also offers comprehensive services, including study abroad consultations and visa guidance. With the continuous improvement of these support measures, an increasing number of students will be able to confidently pursue their dreams of studying abroad and become well-rounded talents with a global perspective.
